María José Ruiz-Angel was born in Valencia (Spain). She obtained her PhD from the University of Valencia (Spain) in 2003 with award, under the supervision of Prof. García-Alvarez-Coque and Prof. Ernesto Simó-Alfonso. In 2003-2004, she worked as research technician in the Central Instrumentation Service at the University Jaume I in Castellón (Spain). In 2004-2006, she was granted with a post-doctorate fellowship in the Laboratoire des Sciences Analytiques at the University Claude Bernard in Lyon (France) under the supervision of Prof. Alain Berthod. In 2007-2008, she was awarded with a Ramón y Cajal research position in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Valencia. After a period of over three years as Associate Professor in this university, she is Professor since April 2012. She has written over 75 research articles, most focusing on secondary equilibria using surfactants and ionic liquids, fundamental studies in HPLC, modelling and optimisation in HPLC, countercurrent chromatography and development of analytical methods for pharmaceutical and clinical samples.
