Wei Zhang obtained my MSc degree in pharmacokinetics from China Pharmaceutical University in Nanjing in 2015. The main task in his master study was to create LC-MS/MS methods for exogenous substances in various biological matrices, such as plasma, urine, and bile. His work also included in vitro drug-drug interactions using the classic incubation study of human/rat liver microsomes.
After obtaining his master degree, Wei Zhang came to the Netherlands and started working in the field of metabolomics within the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research. During his PhD study, he dedicated his efforts to the analysis of polar and charged metabolites in biological samples using capillary electrophoresis coupled to mass spectrometry (CE-MS). He acquired his PhD degree in March 2020 and is working as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Rawi Ramautar’s research group. His current scientific interests lie in the applications of CE-MS methods in various scenarios.
