Dr. Chao Yan is a tenured professor at School of Pharmacy of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, and Chairman of Unimicro (Shanghai) Technologies, Inc., Shanghai. China
He received his Ph.D. in 1991 from Dr. Martire in Chemistry Department of Georgetown University in Washington, DC and moved to Europe and became a post-doctor in Dr. Erni’s Department of Analytical R&D of Sandoz Pharma Ltd, Switzerland. He came back to the USA in 1993 and jointed Dr. Zare's group at Stanford University as a postdoctoral research associate. He was appointed to a full professorship in 2000 at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences by the Chinese government’s “Hundred Scholars Initiative”. He joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a tenured professor and group leader in 2006.
Dr. Yan published with more than 300 scientific articles on chromatography, including one published book, named “Contemporary Microscale Separation Technology”. He holds more than 90 patents in design and manufacturing of pCEC and CE instrument and capillary columns, contributing significantly to solving a variety of problems in chemical and biological analyses.
Dr. Yan has been invited to speak in many international conferences and has won numerous awards, including the National Invention Venture Award of China. Dr. Yan is an executive committee member of Chinese Chromatography Society and Associate Editor in Chief of Chinese Journal of Chromatography and Editorial Board Member of Electrophoresis.
